S-100 ECDIS Upgrade, Bridge Integration & Crew Transition Cost Tool
Plan the move from legacy S-57 ECDIS into the S-100 era without treating 2029 as a blanket fleet-replacement deadline. Compare software, processor and workstation upgrade paths, map bridge-interface work, select S-100 data products, size crew familiarization, phase fleet rollout and build a realistic transition budget.
Transition Trigger & Fleet Baseline
Revised IMO ECDIS performance standards allow S-100 ECDIS for new installations from 1 January 2026 on a voluntary basis and apply to all new ECDIS installations from 1 January 2029. The 2029 date is not, by itself, a blanket deadline to replace every existing legacy ECDIS.

Fleet Transition Register
Each fleet group can use a different hardware path and commissioning year. Cost assumptions below are applied consistently by path.
| Fleet group | Vessels | Stations / vessel | Current age | Upgrade path | Install year | Interfaces / vessel | Bridge readiness % | Network readiness % | Data readiness % | Backup readiness % |
|---|
S-100 Data & Navigation Scope
S-101 is the S-100 ENC product. Other Phase 1 S-100 products can enhance route monitoring and navigation where official services are available and operationally relevant. Selection here sizes integration and training scope only.
