Battery-hybrid estimate ready:
project guidance will appear after calculation.
Model approach:
required battery energy equals discharge power multiplied
by discharge duration, adjusted for usable depth of discharge,
end-of-life capacity and sizing reserve. Battery charging
energy includes round-trip losses. The charging requirement
is split between shore electricity and onboard generators.
Baseline generator fuel is calculated from total vessel
electrical demand and baseline SFOC. Hybrid fuel is calculated
from the remaining generator energy plus onboard battery charging
using the optimized hybrid SFOC. Advanced mode also estimates
battery replacement timing from equivalent full cycles,
calendar life and capacity degradation.
Planning estimate only.
Actual marine battery-system sizing and economics depend on
battery chemistry, cell and module configuration, maximum charge
and discharge power, thermal management, state-of-charge limits,
redundancy, reserve requirements, fire detection and suppression,
ventilation, vessel electrical architecture, converter performance,
generator dispatch, battery-management strategy, degradation,
shore-power availability and the vessel operating profile.
Battery cycling does not inherently save fuel. Savings generally
depend on generator-load optimization, peak shaving, spinning-reserve
reduction, shore charging or other vessel-specific operating benefits.
Use supplier, integrator, class and vessel-specific engineering data
before an investment decision.
