Marine CPP Pitch, Propeller Load & Hydraulic Control Performance Tool

Screen controllable-pitch propeller operation without inventing a universal hydrodynamic propeller curve. Simple mode checks shaft load, torque, command-to-feedback error and hydraulic pressure. Advanced compares operating points with a user-entered pitch/RPM/load envelope, evaluates hydraulic power-pack redundancy and tests pitch-step response.

Simple is intentionally compact: 8 inputs. It uses measured shaft power and pitch feedback rather than estimating propeller power from pitch alone. CPP hydrodynamics, combinator curves and overload limits are vessel-specific.

Combinator / Load Envelope Reference

Enter vessel/OEM reference points. The tool interpolates between points only; it does not extrapolate outside the entered RPM range.

Use Shaft rpm Reference pitch % Maximum continuous shaft power kW

Operating Point Register

Power and torque are measured/entered values. “P/n³ index” is a trend indicator only and should be compared only at similar pitch and operating conditions.

Pitch-Step / Servo Response Register

Required average oil flow is estimated from the entered effective servo volume and pitch travel. It is a screening value, not a transient hydraulic simulation.

Use Test / event Start pitch % Target pitch % Achieved pitch % Response time s Minimum pressure bar

Control / Machinery Checks

Engineering boundary: this tool does not calculate actual propeller thrust, cavitation, blade stress or efficiency from pitch percentage alone. Those require the vessel/OEM propeller geometry and hydrodynamic data. The operating envelope, hydraulic pressure, pitch error, torque and response-time limits remain user-entered and vessel specific.
