2026 SOLAS V/19, Heel Angle, Roll Amplitude, Roll Period, Roll Rate, Angular Acceleration, Cargo Shift, Lashing Margin & VDR Integration

Ship Electronic Inclinometer, Roll Motion, Cargo Shift & Lashing Risk Tool

Convert electronic-inclinometer roll data into an owner/operator risk picture. Screen the new SOLAS carriage requirement, IMO instrument performance, roll-period resonance proximity, peak roll rate and angular acceleration, motion-derived transverse cargo acceleration, friction and lashing demand, cargo-shift margin, overturning margin, threshold exceedance cycles, VDR interface readiness and the potential value of earlier operational intervention.

2026 SOLAS Applicability

SOLAS V/19.2.12 applies to qualifying new containerships and bulk carriers. The tool distinguishes that statutory carriage question from the separate cargo-risk calculations below.

The new carriage rule applies to ships constructed on or after 1 January 2026.

Electronic Inclinometer & IMO Performance Inputs

± degrees. MSC.363(92) requires ±90° measurement capability.

s. IMO minimum measurement range is 4-40 s.

± seconds.
Hz. MSC.363(92) calls for at least 5 Hz to other systems such as VDR.
± degrees. IMO requires actual heel analogue indication through ±45°.

Live / Representative Roll Event

Advanced Roll Event Register

Compare multiple observed or simulated events. Each row can use a different amplitude, period, encounter period, duration, cargo mass and cargo CG height. The worst risk score is brought forward automatically.

Roll & Resonance Alert Thresholds

Cargo Shift & Lashing Risk Screen

This section converts roll motion to a transparent rigid-body screening load. It is intentionally separate from approved container-lashing software, grain stability, IMSBC cargo-shift analysis or the Cargo Securing Manual.

2026 Electronic Inclinometer Readiness

Navigation / cargo-risk screening only: This tool is not an approved stability computer, Cargo Securing Manual calculation, container-lashing solver, grain-heeling calculation, IMSBC cargo-shift assessment, second-generation intact-stability assessment, VDR type-approval test or ship-specific heavy-weather guidance. The motion-derived cargo acceleration combines peak gravity and roll-angular-acceleration terms as a transparent conservative screen. Actual cargo securing loads depend on six-degree-of-freedom ship motions, phase relationships, cargo geometry, vertical acceleration, elasticity, impact, lashing stiffness and approved class / flag methods.
