Maersk raised its full-year 2026 underlying operating profit forecast by $2.75 billion at the midpoint on November 5, yet its shares plunged as much as 11.6% in early Copenhagen trading as investors focused on earnings that failed to meet expectations. The Danish shipping group reported third-quarter revenue of $18.1 billion, up 27.4%, and operating profit of $3.27 billion, more than double the year-earlier figure. But quarterly EBITDA of $4.71 billion fell below the $5.04 billion analyst consensus, while the new $8 billion–$8.5 billion annual EBIT outlook remained below the $8.66 billion average expected by analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Maersk also revealed that global average port waiting times peaked at 16.6 hours during the quarter, absorbing vessel capacity and helping drive container spot rates 46% higher than in the second quarter.
