When full replacement still wins

Staged modernization is not a way to keep every elevator forever. Full replacement moves back to the front when the hoisting machinery, guide systems, car structure, shaft interfaces and electrical systems are all aging at once, when spare parts are effectively gone, or when a passenger-flow redesign requires more capacity than the existing bank can deliver.

Capital filter: if three or four major systems are still healthy, modernize around them. If almost every major system is entering the replacement window together, stretching the old installation can become the more expensive decision.
