Container Demurrage, Detention, Free Time & Storage Cost Tool

Container Logistics • Free Time • Carrier Per Diem • Terminal Storage • Invoice Review

Container Demurrage, Detention, Free Time & Storage Cost Tool

Model the container’s on-terminal and off-terminal charge days, apply carrier and terminal tariffs separately, identify expiring free time, and test whether an earlier pickup or empty return reduces costs. Advanced mode reconciles multiple boxes, tiered rates, invoice differences and documented operating exceptions.

Fast container charge screen: 12 inputsDates are interpreted at the terminal’s local calendar-day level. The pickup and empty-return event days are excluded by default. Storage is a separate charge only where contractually applicable.

Container Timeline & Tariff

Commercial charge and dispute workbenchDefine the charge-day rules, maintain a multi-container register and import your tariff tiers. The default rates are illustrative and are not actual carrier quotes.
Contract and legal boundary: Tariffs, clock start events, expiry conventions, holidays, force majeure, merchant liability, invoice requirements and recoverable charges vary. Calculations are reconciliation estimates, not proof of an enforceable invoice or a legal entitlement to a waiver. Storage may overlap with demurrage when actually billed separately.

Container Movement & Invoice Register

Use terminal availability/release, gate-out and empty-return dates in the same local calendar. Imported and exported movements may require different actual tariff events; enter the dates corresponding to your contract. One box per row.

Carrier / Terminal Tiered Tariff Register

Tier days refer to chargeable days after free time, not total calendar days. Each type/charge should have a complete tier schedule with no gaps or overlaps; a blank tier end means unlimited. Tariff rates are in your selected display currency and are never FX-converted.

Approved Charge-Day Exceptions

Exclude days only if a documented tariff provision, contract amendment, billing correction or accepted relief request justifies doing so. Selecting “Approved” applies the exclusion. Pending/disputed exceptions remain billed in the estimate.

Evidence & Dispute File

Maintain availability notices, terminal gate screenshots, appointment attempts, return-location instructions, invoicing records and dispute communications. The tool flags unverified records without assuming the charge must be waived.
