Port Container Crane Fleet Replacement,
Availability & Lifecycle CAPEX ROI Tool
Decide which ship-to-shore cranes to keep, modernize, or replace. Model quay capacity, reliability, yard constraints, capital phasing and actual cash economics across the equipment fleet.

Move counts are container moves, not TEU. Financial results are scenarios, not equipment certification.
One-crane investment screenCompare keeping an ageing STS crane against an upgrade. The yard/transport ceiling and expected annual demand can prevent all theoretical capacity gains becoming actual revenue.
Existing crane and terminal
Multi-crane investment committee screenSix linked registers model each crane, selected project, annual terminal constraints, exceptional failures, extra spending and critical approvals. CAPEX and benefits are phased by project year.
Fleet-wide assumptions
Selected capital actions may reduce first-year capacity during installation. Regular failure downtime belongs in base crane availability; exceptional risk records represent additional events only. Capacity growth has cash value only to the extent it serves demand and clears the yard/transport ceiling.
Decision boundary: This is an investment screening model. No crane is certified fit for duty. Confirm structural fatigue, design duty, rail and berth loadings, vessel outreach, wind limits, electrical supply, OEM proposals, terminal operating system integration and local regulatory requirements before award.

01 · STS fleet asset registerBaseline duty, mechanical availability, throughput, maintenance and energy
Availability already incorporates ordinary planned and unplanned service downtime. Duty consumed is a review marker, not an automatic life-limit determination.
02 · Capital projects / OEM optionsChoose individual retrofits or replacement tenders with defined lead times
Only selected options are included in investment cash flows. Net CAPEX = direct CAPEX less verified incentives and trade-in proceeds; residual is credited at the horizon.
03 · Annual demand and constraintsOptional year-by-year overrides; leave blank to use global forecast
Terminal-wide yard and transport ceilings cap monetizable moves, regardless of the sum of crane capacities.
04 · Exceptional outage risksExpected annual cost and additional lost production, separate from routine availability
Only add nonroutine events excluded from ordinary availability and maintenance budgets. Project mitigation reduces selected event probability, not the underlying guaranteed crane availability.
05 · Ancillary project and operating costsPower, civil works, rails, training, mobilisation and recurring expenses
Project-linked costs apply only if that project is selected. Fleet-wide costs apply to every modeled proposed scenario, but not to the keep-all baseline.
06 · Engineering / tender award gatesStructural, electrical, safety, access, procurement and commissioning reviews
Critical open holds remain visible in the decision panel; a high projected NPV does not bypass technical, legal or safety review.
