Marine Turbocharger Performance, Scavenge Air & Surge Margin Tool

Screen the complete air path from turbocharger inlet to scavenge receiver. Simple mode checks pressure ratio, compressor efficiency, surge distance, charge-air cooling and turbo speed. Advanced mode plots multiple operating points against a user-entered OEM surge line, separates auxiliary-blower flow, calculates corrected map coordinates, estimates charge-air condensate, and exposes weak load points, cooler losses and sensitivity to falling air flow or rising pressure ratio.

Engine, Map Reference & User Limits

These limits are deliberately user-entered. Turbocharger speed, acceptable surge margin, expected efficiency and allowable scavenge conditions are maker/engine-specific.

Operating Point Register

Enter measured or trial-book operating points. Total engine air flow can include auxiliary-blower flow; the tool subtracts the entered auxiliary contribution before splitting compressor flow between turbochargers in service.

OEM Compressor Surge Line

Enter points from the actual compressor map as pressure ratio versus corrected air flow per turbocharger. The tool linearly interpolates the surge-line flow at each operating pressure ratio. Do not substitute generic values for maker map data.

Measurement / Maintenance Checks

Engineering boundary: compressor-map stability is equipment-specific. This tool uses the OEM surge line entered by the user and calculates a flow-based surge margin at the operating pressure ratio. It does not predict transient surge, certify safe engine operation, establish allowable turbocharger speed, or override maker instructions, alarm limits, engine tuning or onboard performance procedures.
