EU ETS + FuelEU Maritime Voyage Cost Calculator

Estimate voyage-attributed EU ETS allowance exposure and FuelEU Maritime compliance economics. Simple mode converts one fuel and voyage scope into ETS cost, FuelEU GHG intensity gap and a voyage-equivalent penalty proxy. Advanced mode separates multiple fuels across intra-EU, extra-EU and EU-port consumption, applies RFNBO reward treatment, annual compliance adjustments, borrowing eligibility and scenario sensitivity.

Voyage Scope & Fuel

EU-port fuel is treated as 100% in scope. The selected sea-voyage scope controls the sea-fuel percentage.

MT consumed during the sea voyage.
MT, treated as 100% in scope in this planning model.
tCO2e/MT. For 2026, use a verified/planning factor that reflects applicable CO2, CH4 and N2O treatment.
EUR/tCO2e.
MJ/kg.
gCO2e/MJ, using the applicable verified or planning pathway / energy-converter basis.
tCO2e-equivalent planning adjustment. Positive improves the voyage-attributed balance; negative worsens it.

Regulatory & Annual Compliance Context

% of extra-EU fuel/energy included in the model.
EUR/tCO2e.
tCO2e-equivalent allocated from bank/pool/annual context. Positive improves the modeled balance.
Used only for the borrowing eligibility screen.
Use 1.000 unless an approved FuelEU wind reward factor applies.

Fuel & Voyage Segment Register

Use verified or approved fuel pathway values where available. The RFNBO reward multiplier may be set to 2 only where applicable to the reporting period and qualifying fuel.

Commercial Allocation

Use zero when modeling compliance through banking/pooling/other arrangements instead of a voyage-attributed penalty proxy.
Compliance boundary: FuelEU Maritime is an annual ship-level compliance regime, not a voyage-by-voyage penalty system. This tool attributes the annual intensity balance and statutory penalty formula to the entered voyage/energy for commercial planning. Actual liability can be changed by verified annual data, banking, borrowing, pooling, RFNBO treatment, ice-class adjustments, wind reward, port definitions, exemptions, derogations and other regulatory provisions.
